DESCRIPTION The ASB is an outdoor, group-operated side opening two insulator, air disconnect switch with only the hinge insulator rotating during operation. The ASB is constructed primarily of aluminum and is available in ratings from 8.3kV through 72.5kV maximum (7.5kV through 69kV nominal) and 1200 through 2000 continuous amperes. The side break is the most economical of all group-operated switches. APPLICATION The ASB is commonly used in three-phase line or substation applications such as transformer or line disconnecting, breaker isolating, bypassing or bus sectionalizing. Operation of the ASB may be accomplished by either manual control or by motor operator.

TESTING The ASB has been extensively tested to meet or exceed current ANSI standards. A comprehensive test brochure is available outlining electrical and mechanical design test conducted on the ASB .
